The cure to illiteracy springs forth from a culture of education. MFSE was formed to lay the building
blocks for this culture so that illiteracy may be eliminated and to allow the waters of literacy to flow forth.
In laying the building blocks, it is the goal of MFSE to improve the overall Muslim literacy rate by 1% each year
to achieve 90% Muslim literacy in 2050 throughout the world.
Ninety percent literacy in 2050 can be achieved by building a culture of education that can start in every household.
It should be the primary goal in raising children to raise literate children. To that end, MFSE emphasizes science and
English education from grade 1 because of the importance these subjects carry with them in a world increasingly technical
and using English as a primary language for communication. To build a culture of education, though, the building must
begin with children and continue up to the parents so literacy is spread around as a contagious benefit toward a successful
and responsible life.
In creating a culture of education it is important for women to become educated along with children. The lower world
Muslim literacy rates consist largely of women. The importance of their education lies in building educated households
as mothers. Educated mothers bring with them credibility about education, to help children with their education, in
contributing to a literate community. It is not necessary that women are educated to work in the job market, but to
build a culture of education at home and in communities all over the world.
Economic prosperity cannot be recognized and achieved without literacy. It is important that each world government holds
its country to a standard of literacy as it does for gross domestic product. Just as a country seeks to flourish economically,
so too should it seek to flourish educationally so workers are literate and able to function successfully and responsibly in
an increasing global economy. It is MFSE’s interest to work with Muslim community leaders, lobby world governments, speak
with non-government organizations, and inform corporations that it is in their benefit to hold a higher standard for literacy.
It is in the interest of world governments to hold their countries to a high standard of literacy. Unless the entire boat
is strong, any small leak will capsize the boat and sink it. Literacy ushers forth orderly and peaceful societies with opportunity
with educated people working and paying taxes to support the country in whole. To keep the boat afloat, MFSE encourages world
governments to hold their countries to high standards of literacy and educational production as they do with their economies and GDP.
